Architectural construction of this modular bookcase is the experimental work by Italian cult designer and artist Ugo La Pietra.
We have discovered it during our visit of the amazing Casa Tabarelli by Carlo Scarpa near Bolzano. Originally designed in 1967, the Uno Sull'Altro bookcase is formed out of modular two-side shelves inserting each other to create a pyramidical final shape.
La Pietra's 1960s and 1970s work represents radical design thinking of the period, reflection on modernism and evaluation of traditional creative and social values.
