Our favorite London-based designer Michael Anastassiades pays tribute to soft modernism of Josef Frank.

Josef Frank (1885 - 1967), who was born in Austria and active in Vienna until 1933, when he emigrated to Sweden, is important representative of the vision of the modern house and its interior. In Sweden, he started to collaborate with Svenskt Tenn company, for which he realised many interior objects, furnishings, wallpapers and textiles. All of the products are characterized by the connection of decoration and modernism.

The similar approach in contemporary way we can see in the work of Michael Anastassiades as well. For this year Stockholm Design Week he prepared furniture collection called To Be Perfectly Frank for Svenskt Tenn as a tribute to Frank. Brass lamps, wooden tables in the shapes of lakes and other objects oscilate between historicism, craft and new functionalism.
