In March, the new oceanic boat was launched. Its graphic design is the work of ECAL student Romain Collaud.

Called MOD70 Race for Water, the boat is a project by famous sailor Steve Ravussin and collaborative initiative between Multi One Design, Multi One Attitude Foundation and the ECAL. “My boat, named “Race for Water” is the ambassador boat of the Multi One Attitude Foundation that we created in parallel to the Multi One Championship. The Foundation is interested with water issues, in particularly the ocean preservation. One of the missions of the Foundation is to attract young people. First we have elaborated an educational program for kids with Titeuf as a main character. Then, we have initiated a collaborative program with schools and universities. It seemed natural to me to involve the ECAL in the graphic design!” says Stève Ravussin, holder of the round the world sailing speed record and winner of many transatlantic races.

The official christening of the boat was held on the 25th March 2011 in Lorient, France. Now boat will enter some important races: in July it is AF Offshore race in Sweden, in August it is Fastnet race in Great Britain and in 2012 begins Multi One Championship with the first race from New York to Brest in July 2012.

The design of the boat is based on sleek aerodynamic trimaran scheme. Graphic design by student Romain Collaud points out the theme of the water and creates perfect ocean visual style. The another 11 MOD70 boats will be released in next years. Each of them with the different sponsorship.
