Sold for £16,250 at Phillips de Pury auction last month, this rare glass vase is the decorative masterpiece by Italian architect Ernesto Puppo (1904-1987).

Designed in 1936, the Globe vase is made of engraved and coloured glass. Puppo was one the founders of Modern movement in Italy and in his architecture, design and graphic work he combined rationalist and futurist principles together. This vase express his international work as he immigrated to Argentina, where he built several important modernist buildings.
