Designed by Italian radical design group Ufo, this lamp reveals iconic symbolism of Hollywood movie industry.
In 1967, architect Lapo Binazzi (born 1943) founded Ufo, a creative group of architects associated with the 1960s Italian radical design scene at the faculty of Architecture in Florence. Among the finest works of Ufo is the 1969 collection of table lamps interpreting popular American iconography and symbols of dollars or movie production companies of Paramount and MGM. The lamps presents experimental synthesis of artistic and conceptual ideas with the design morphology and real function.
MGM lamp, that we have spotted at Design & Art gallery in Vienna, was then produced by Alchimia since 1979.
