We have selected four of the most sculptural lamps by French modernist designer and decorator Mathieu Mategot (1910 - 2001).

Working mainly with perforated metal sheets, his lamps are true works of art. Geometric and organic forms create exceptional abstract compositions in which the light sources are hidden inside the pure sculptures. His early work such as Bagdad lamp or Java lamp are followed by Laiton lamp from later period of the 1960s, right before Mategot retired as a furniture designer. In that period he works with brass mainly.
